Description: The best Cuba has to offer in music and dance featuring original members of the Buena Vista Social Club, Afro-Cuban All Stars and Vieja Trova Santiagera have come together for a once only national Australian tour commencing in Perth on Friday 28 May. The Bar at Buena Vista - pays homage to the Buena Vista neighbourhood and the stars of the Buena Vista Social Club via the music of legends like the late Compay Segundo and Ruben Gonzalez. It is a dedication to the original spirit of the music of Cuba, the lifeblood of a people whose heritage is as rich as it is old. A cast of Cuba's most notable and legendary musical greats, drawn from renowned groups like the Grammy-winning Buena Vista Social Club and Irakere, Afro-Cuban All Stars, Vieja Trova Santiagera and Anakoana inject the music with life and wisdom in a performance of a lifetime in Cuba. Co-founder of the Buena Vista, and this years Grammy nominated musician Carlos Gonzales on Percussion will be accompanied by fellow Grammy nominee Luis Frank on vocals alongside diva Barbara Ferrer Sanchez of Anakoana. Cuba is home to passionate music legends from the 40's & 50's so the show would be incomplete without them... on Tres Guitar is celebrated 80 year old Marakaibo who has performed with Cuban legend Beny More, on vocals is 86 year old Reynaldo Creagh from Vieja Trova Santiagera and 78 year old Maestro Rabalcalba legendary piano player from the Afro-Cuban All stars are the true stars of the show. Music in Cuba is always accompanied by dance, and for this we have Eric Turro, the master of traditional son from the 40's and the 50's which is a hybrid mixture of Street and Salon styles of dance. Eric will be accompanied by six of Cuba's best young and old dancers ranging from their early twenties through to their late seventies. Whilst many of the artists are now aged in their 60's, 70's and even 80's age seems no barrier as to they continue to celebrate a passion for life through their music. It was through them and their endless enthusiasm that the Golden Age of Cuban Music was defined and to this day plays a vital part in the fabric of Cuban life at all levels.
